When Pacman was first released in 1980, it was described as a maze-chasing game in which the player navigates through a maze and eats all of the dots that appear on the way. Choosing a difficult difficulty setting and playing until you reach the highest level possible without being caught by ghosts, who will kill you if they catch you, is the objective. It is critical for the player to collect all of the items on each screen in order to successfully complete the game.
Going from left to right and eating all of the items on each screen, the player must navigate his way through these levels in order to progress. Because of this, he will be directed to the next screen. Ghosts should be avoided at all costs, as doing so will result in the loss of a life. When he runs out of lives, he will be sent back to level one, where he will have to start over from the beginning.
